Granddaughter Martha lives with her grandmother, Godelieva, until Godelieva gradually begins to forget everything, falls unhappily, and Martha is forced to go to a boarding school. Soon, Martha wants to escape reality and take her grandmother out of the nursing home, the place she never wanted to go, to flee together to the Virgin Islands. After all, that had been her grandmother’s dream.
Several years later, when her grandmother dies in a deck chair on a beach in the Virgin Islands, Martha comes into contact with her grandmother’s past through a stranger. But does Martha really want to know the secrets her grandmother kept from her?
